With the Collector's Edition coming soon, I thought the wiki could use an upgrade for new players. So I've put together a series of seven (very amateur) video walk-throughs covering the basic functions of the game. Forum regulars and game veterans won't necessarily find anything new but it's a good place to point your friends and people who are interested in SotS.

Nice! Thanks for the effort. Perhaps some forumer should play some games and FRAPS some common MP battle tactics to encourage some more people to jump in.

Hey, very nicely done. I'll be sure to point those I kidnap...erm I mean persuade into play Sword of the Stars to those walkthroughs. :D

Just out of curiosity, but what did you use to make these walkthroughs. FRAPS comes to mind, but you had both the ingame music and you speaking at the same time. Makes me think something else was being used.

    Fraps to capture the game footage
    Audacity to capture the commentary
    Adobe Premiere Essentials for the video editing
    Avanti + ffmpeg for the flv conversion

I seem to be having some issues with them loading incredibly slowly, but my connection was just down for a week so it could just be me. Still, really awesome Rorsch! This was a great idea!

Awesome tutorial videos. They should put a link to those from the game.

Unfortunately YouTube compresses the hell out of videos so you can't see the text on the screen. The vids on the wiki are still under 50MB (each) and are fully legible.

I've re-enabled the flash video walkthroughs on the wiki today. I figured with the CE coming out and new people picking up the game, it would be helpful.

Last time the vids causes a memory leak which made the whole wiki unstable but we've made some changes this time around to hopefully improve things.

Please feel free to take a look and direct new players over to the site.
