Toshiko Triumphant? [Seriously Floor 5 BR]

It's looking probable...

Staging: This was intended to be a gear only run- ie, no overleveling via the XP locker in the Blueroom. However, I had a math fail and instead of just adding five levels of XP to the Scout... I added twenty. By that point, however, I had already taken out the gear from storage so I was committed. Farmed gear included the ever-present chitin armor components, addy claw components, and a variety of ranged implements (auto-shotty, auto-rifle, mag-rifle).

I avoided Edu-Pets because the Scout's one stat point per level scared me.

Notable Events to Date: I found some WW gaunts! Then a VN nuked them despite a full inventory! :toast: (And that is why you shouldn't let the stream volume get louder than your own game volume. You miss key audio clues, and lose legendary gear.) Also a meson rifle.

Surprises: It has been raining impactors this game. I've can't recall seeing so many nice weapon biomods in a run. I think I have 9 of them, all told.

Hmm... nothing that really jumps to mind. It was a fairly typical BR Seriously run for me. It was very difficult to generate free psi-skill ups with the Scout, given her low psi-point regen rate on seriously. That was WITH the psi focus and WW gaunts. After a VN probe disintegrated the gaunts... forget about it!

Near the end (like floors 38 and 39), I was having to rest perhaps twice every room? I really rely on psi powers for locking down enemies, and the scout simply didn't have the success rate- even at skill 100- of a Psion or Seeker. So I was taking lots of damage. Presumably the power stat was just too low.

The floor 39 ladder room, for example, started me off against 4 plague zuul and 2 rippers. Plague Zuul were doing about 75 damage a round to me, in addition to inflicting disease and poison (despite an okayish might stat). During the course of the fight, no less than EIGHT Warbots Mk 1 came to play. At one point there were four in the room. This is also the first seriously run I did where I didn't clear all the floors- it just was too time consuming to heal back up afterwords, AND I was not finding a lot of Tarkan Living Steel Patches (so armor dura was an actual concern).

The Scout's ability to wear the filtration mask is a godsend, meaning that I don't have to worry about KO nades. Being KO'd dramatically increases the damage you take (I think I read x2) from all attacks, and is a quick way to a doomed run. The Liir, for example, had to be constantly in fear of being KO'd as there is no item to prevent it (afaik).

Feel free to ask any questions, of course! But for the most part the setup was similar to my Seriously Sheperd (viewtopic.php?f=67&t=53606) and Psion (viewtopic.php?f=67&t=52768) runs.
