Much of the conceptual framework is done, but modellers are in short supply. Texturing...I don't even know where to start. :D

So it's not dead...

...is it? :(

No. However, those with the skills to move the project forward are not available. There's always conceptual and story work to be done but it's not vital compared to actual 3D modeling.

Ah. So it is merely 'on hold' until enough people step forward with skills required?

Pretty much. Truth be told, I still spend time working on the story/background part of things but I just don't know when to quit either. ;)

I'm a good scripter and I know a good modeler who loves this game and we'd both be interested in helping finish the rockbugs/cthonics/matrixi. Is this still feasible? Do you guy still have those models that there are screenshots of?

Those models are still around, yes. You should knock heads with the other modelers on here. :)

I've not seen anyone advertise texturing skills, but we're absolutely going to need them at some point. Or I guess we all learn. :D

Hey, sorry been a bit busy.

I checked out the wiki page and I saw you guys have been using Blender which is awesome because my friend and I have been getting very into it ourselves. Worth noting however, that all links to non-Blender models were broken from what I could find.

We both particularly like the fission engine section and the colony pod listed as the editor's favorite. My friend might be able to help with texturing, and if he can't we might be able to get a hold of another friend of ours who could. Sorry for the "mights", I know quite a few people who do this kind of thing, it's find ones with time who are interested.

I'll see about contacting the modelers directly in a day or two when I have a bit of extra time and try to show off some prototype models for missing ship sections.

Awesome! :D

I'm a story guy with a touch of gameplay, but it's the modelers who do the grunt work. Kakaze did those models I think.

Here's a DE shield section, barely suitable for low poly at about 900. It could be reduced if need be. I did notice a broken link to possible unassigned shield on the wiki, if that one is preferred this could be a Deflector or Jammer I suppose.

Viewing the forums it seems there are a good number of sections designed that aren't listed on the wiki. Do you need help rounding up the models and updating the entry?

I have everything that was on the old TGU FTP before it disappeared.

It may not be everything that was out there though.

Also, the stock SotS DE shield sections are 1500-2500 faces each, so you have plenty of room left to work with.

Awesome resource collection. Kakaze has said he can send me his stuff as well. Destroyers seem very close to complete.

I know the higher end version can take a good deal more polys but I thought LOD needed four models with the lowest in the 500-1000 range. Based on my own inclination and Kakaze's advice I intend to focus on (well direct the artists to focus on) the low LOD versions first. It seems better to take a low poly model that works and add detail then to make the high poly first and hope the down-polyed version still looks recognizable.

*looks aroud* hello? you guys still here? I can kick gmax-made sections around... and have a few up in the thread I just posted (those are the ones I consider 'finished' for the moment. I'll prolly go tweak around with them more, no doubt. )
so if anyone's still here, I am an semi-noobish modeler that is quite willing to contribute.

Excellent. I'm not going to say something cliche like, "You're hired!" Still, welcome to the fold. :D

There are some excellent reference models here, be sure to check them out. Hrmm...checked your other thread, it looks like you already have. :)
